A brave little boy, who is fighting a cancerous tumour, was handed the chance to demonstrate his grit as a fireman with a personal induction from Fireman Sam.

A brave little boy, who is fighting a cancerous tumour, was handed the chance to demonstrate his grit as a fireman with a personal induction from Fireman Sam.

Kallum Lynch, three, of Copperfield Avenue, Great Yarmouth, was granted his wish to be a fireman and meet his water-dousing hero for real, courtesy of Make-A-Wish Foundation UK, the charity that grants wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.

Kallum, who is fighting Rhabdomyosarcoma, a type of cancerous tumour, was taken to Yarmouth Fire Station in a red Hummer limousine, along with his parents Joanne and James, and little brother Jack, two, where local heroes were on hand to show him the ropes.

Kitted out in all the gear, Kallum received a tour of the fire station, a lesson in using a fireman's hose and a trip in a fire engine, before rounding the day off with a meal.

Kallum's mum Joanne said: “It was a really amazing day. We were greeted by Fireman Sam as soon as we arrived and Kallum enjoyed every second of it - running around in excitement.

“The fire crew from Yarmouth Fire Station were very attentive and looked after Kallum the whole day, taking him round the block in the fire engine and sounding the horn. Kallum loved playing with the hose and getting the fire crew wet.

“As a keepsake, the crew gave Kallum a real fireman's hat - it's very heavy but he loves it and carries it with him everywhere.”
