LATE night summer shopping was launched in Great Yarmouth last night with crowds treated to live music and entertainment.

Most shops kept their doors open until 8pm, with many store managers agreeing that it was a steady start for the first night with footfall higher than normal as shoppers stayed longer into the evening.

Town Centre Manager, Jonathan Newman said: “It was clear that people enjoyed the opportunity to be in the town centre shopping later, particularly with the council's car parks being free from 4pm, and it gives the town centre something to build on over the next five weeks.”

The late night shopping will continue until every Wednesday until August 26.
