FEARS have been raised about the safety of children walking along a Caister road being used by large lorries heading for a new housing development.

Phyllis Marshall, of West Road, Caister has spoken of her concerns concerning West Road which lorries are using to get to the 150-home Bloor Homes site.

She added many of the lorries were parking in the street.

She said: “It is just like a bombsite. Everyday we have got all these big lorries coming and going. It is horrendous, people use the doctors and dentists but can't find anywhere to park.”

Concerns about the situation were also raised by residents at a Caister Parish Council meeting on Monday.

Bloor Homes was granted planning permission in 2007 to build the new homes on marshland off West Road and workers began completing groundwork on the site in March last year.
