POLICE in the Gorleston, Bradwell and Southern Villages area are urging residents to be vigilant after a number of home burglaries over the past few days.

There have been at least half-a-dozen break-ins since last Friday, 9 December, and officers are calling on residents to support police efforts to stop the burglars.

Among the most recent incidents are a burglary at a home in Cliff Lane in Gorleston between 4pm and 8pm Wednesday where two diamond rings, including one with 18 small stones, were stolen.

There was also a break-in at a home at Seafields Drive in Hopton between 11.45am Tuesday and 7.05am Wednesday, where cash and other items were taken, and burglary at an address in Links Road between 3.10pm and 6.20pm on last Tuesday.

Since December 9 there have also been break-ins at homes in Fritton and Bradwell.

Inspector Richard Graveling, who oversees Safer Neighbourhood Teams in the area, said; “We are asking all residents to remain vigilant and to call police immediately using 999 if you notice any suspicious activity.

“This could be spotting someone loitering near a home, someone clambering over a wall or in a window or the sound of breaking glass for example.

“Please don’t be afraid to call us - we would much rather attend and check it out and find that there is an innocent explanation than have further householders subjected to the distress and inconvenience of being burgled.

“Officers are on patrol 24 hours a day, seven days a week so if you see anything unusual please call us straight away using 999.”
