Independent retailers in Great Yarmouth and Norwich are set to receive more support with free training sessions.
Town centre managers from across the country pledged to support independent retailers at the Association of Town Centre Management (ATCM) conference in Cambridge on June 30.
Jonathan Newman, Yarmouth’s town centre manager, has committed to host taster training sessions for retailers in the area in support of Independents’ Day.
The initiative is Skillsmart Retail’s national campaign to encourage the public to use their local shops and their local retailers on July 4.
The hour-and-a-half long sessions will be conducted by retail experts and provide retailers with the opportunity to trial training and improve their skills. A number of East Anglian towns have signed the pledge, including Yarmouth, Norwich, Bury St Edmunds and Ely. The response has delighted ATCM.
