HE was found in the Quay area of Gorleston, and now there are hopes Pepe the continental cat will be able to see off his injuries with a Gallic shrug and find himself a home.

Last week’s Mercury put out an appeal for the owner of a young ginger and white cat with a French microchip that had been handed into Haven Veterinary Surgeons injured in the small hours of Sunday, February 13.

Now he is in the care of RSPCA East Norfolk, who have given him his new name and are helping him rediscover his joie de vivre.

Branch manager Debra cook said: “He is absolutely lovely and is expected to be here for another month to allow him to recover and then we will be looking to rehome him, though not for the moment.

“In regards to his microchip, we’ve even contacted Defra to see if he has jumped on a ship but we’ve had no luck so far.”
