SOME fun and games with his children provided the inspiration for a film comedy written by and starring Caister actor Paul Pagano.

The short film called Funnybone is something of a family affair featuring Paul's two daughters Keira and Caitlin.

The plot centres on a magician called Felix Chester, a loveable rouge who is forced to take a job as a children's entertainer.

Recording is due to start shortly with the film being shot at locations in Caister, Great Yarmouth and Norwich.

The idea for the film came from Paul pretending to be a children's entertainer during a role play with Keira, six, and 11 year old Caitlin.

Paul said: “It was recorded as a sound clip on my mobile, which one of my friends, an actor who lives in Norwich, asked about.

“He said it would be great on film, so when I got home I began jotting down some ideas, which just kept coming. So much so, that it became clear there was enough material to write a short film.

“My character Felix performs magic at children's parties, but is really not nice to them, as he hates children. He reluctantly continues with the job, but it doesn't take him long to work out a clever way of earning quite a lot of money out of this.”

Paul, who works in the building department for Great Yarmouth Borough Services, has self-funded Funnybone, which he is hoping to enter for short film competitions.

Since taking an acting course in Norwich Paul, 41, has played several roles including in the film Malice in Wonderland that was shot in Yarmouth. He has also written another script for a film called Empty, several sketches and a dance song.

Daughter Caitlin has also caught the acting bug, appearing in Peter Pan and the Lost Boys at the Theatre Royal, Hercule's at the Norwich Playhouse and has a role singing and dancing in this year's pantomime Robinson Crusoe at the theatre.
