POLICE in Caister are warning of the dangers of starting bin fires following an incident in the village this morning.
Officers were called to an address on Thames Way shortly before 2am following reports of a bin fire.
The fire had been started deliberately in a bin which was positioned close to a property.
Firefighters were called to the scene and the fire was extinguished, however the situation could have been different if the fire had spread as Sgt Caroline Adams explains.
She said: “We take these incidents very seriously and in this case there was the potential for the fire to be much worse as the bin was very close to a property and could have easily spread.
“Officers are following several lines of enquiry and we are determined to catch those responsible.”
