CAISTER Junior School have been appreciating the sacrifices made by the generation who fought in the first and second world wars and other conflicts of the 20th century. As the Royal British Legion celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Armistice, pupils sold and wore poppies to help raise money to contribute to the sale of 36million poppies sold annually by the legion.

Here are two poems written by pupils to mark Remembrance Day:

Poppies

Remember the people who fought for us.

In rain and snow from dawn to dusk.

Gunshots fire and bombs go off.

The screams of people dying.

As aeroplanes are flying, as people float up to heaven.

So please remember those who saved us.

Remember they gave us freedom.

Poppy Appeal

As I bow my head for my two minutes silence,

I remember my Great Grandad and his spirit lives on,

When I open my eyes I picture him in his uniform.

He smiles at me when I lay my wreath,

I turn to my family and imagine him with us.
