A Science Day was held for Year 4 at Caister Junior School. Three scientists, Angela Man, Saleha Bakht and Andrew Carter gave up a day at the food research labs in Norwich, and went into school to work with the youngsters. The pupils were challenged us to find the best materials for keeping warm. Madison's cotton wool won and Rachel's polystyrene packing came second. Saleha made a purple liquid by boiling red cabbage. It was very smelly. We used the liquid to test different chemicals. Vinegar and lemon juice made the cabbage water turn pink. Youngsters were also showed how to get the DNA from strawberries! In the afternoon parents went in to find out all about the special day.
