The volunteers at Caister Lifeboat have been given a £500 boost from a funeral directors.
The lifeboat station was handed the cheque by Susan Thompson, the fourth of generation of the Jary family and who owns Arthur Jary & Sons in Northgate Street in Great Yarmouth.
Mrs Thompson made the donation after she was invited on the lifeboat to witness several sets of ashes being scattered at sea by the crew.
Her son Sean said after seeing how the lifeboat crew helped fulfil families wishes, and also broadcast the service from the boat during the scattering to its station, his mother wanted to do something to thank them for allowing her to go and to help raise awareness of the work of the independent lifeboat station and its team of dedicated volunteers in keeping people safe.
Caister Lifeboat has been saving lives at sea since 1791 and depends entirely on public donations to help provide safety and rescue services.
