A man has been sent to jail for 12 months after pleading guilty to being in possession of a stolen ring.

Kurtis Harper, 23, from Caister, was sentenced on November 23 following an incident on December 20, 2016 where he was searched and the ring found.

Detective Constable Steve Harrowing said: “Harper had originally claimed that the ring was left to him by his dead mother.

“However, after a thorough investigation, it was clear his mother was still alive and the story had been completely fabricated.

“I hope this sentence provides the public and the victim with reassurance that we will do everything within our power to find stolen property and to reunite it with its rightful owner.”
