OCTOBER last year saw the start of the Jambusters Walk to School scheme at Caister Middle School. Pupils were encouraged to abandon family cars to the school gates in favour of “parking and striding”, where parents could park safely within close proximity of the school and the children then walk to school. A poster competition was launched by Norfolk Police to further support the school and two year six girls were surprised last week at a celebratory assembly when two representatives from the police rewarded the girls with vouchers to each buy a bike. The bikes will be presented to the girls by the Mayor after they have made their choice.
