A GROUP of 30 pupils from Caister Middle School spent the half-term holiday exploring parts of Sweden and meeting their penpals in and out of the classroom.

The Year Seven group stayed at a youth hostel in Fridhemspian and visited the Vasa Museum, which houses the ship, the Vasa, which sunk on her maiden voyage in 1628; Aquaria, an aquarium designed as a tropical rain forest complete with sharks and piranhas; and Skansen, which had old farmsteads and houses showing the pupils the history of Swedish cultures. The children also got up close and personal to the Royal Palace in Stockholm, visited a theme park and rounded off the trip with a meal in the Hard Rock Café in Stockholm.
