Lynn Hills’s husband David Hills, 49, had got stuck in a snow drift yesterday, as he attempted to go to the aid of his son who was stranded elsewhere.

Mrs Hills was able to retrieve her husband, however, they had to abandon his car in a snow drift on Ormesby Lane in Filby.

However, Martin Kerrison at the King’s Head pub in the village organised a team of around a dozen volunteers to dig the vehicle free on Friday morning.

Mrs Hills, of Jordan Road, Caister, said: “I cannot thank the Filby community enough - they were amazing.

“Martin in particular was incredible, he spread the word and made sure we had a big team and the car is now safely home in Caister.”
