A 35-YEAR-old man will appear before magistrates later this month charged with producing cannabis after a police community support officer sniffed out a cannabis den in Caister.

Officers from the Caister and Coastal Villages Safer Neighbourhood Team seized 25 cannabis plants after searching a home on Seafield Road. Hi-tech cultivating equipment was also seized in the raid which was the result of intelligence and the sensitive nose of a PCSO patrolling the area.

Sgt Andy Brown, from Caister SNT, said: “This is the latest in a number of raids that have been carried out by the team and again highlights the importance of community intelligence. The team are always keen to hear from the public about anyone that is suspected of growing cannabis or dealing in illegal drugs.”

The man is on police bail and will appear before Great Yarmouth Magistrates Court on November 24.
