Graham Wright of Gotham Road, Brinsworth, was visiting the village in August last year when a member of the public noticed he had failed to clear up after his dog fouled the verge on Ormesby Road.
The council's environmental rangers approached Mr Wright, who admitted not clearing up after his dog. He admitted the offence by post and at Great Yarmouth Magistrates Court on Friday, was fined �100. Great Yarmouth Borough Council, which brought the prosecution, was awarded �70 costs.
Senior environmental ranger Paul Shucksmith said: “Dog fouling is not only anti-social but could be potentially hazardous, especially to young children. The council takes the problem very seriously and will prosecute if we get relevant information about offenders.”
It is an offence to not clear up after a dog has fouled on most land to which the public has access. The maximum fine is �1,000.
