A hotel has shared CCTV footage of thieves stealing meat from an outdoor fridge.

The footage shows two people struggling with their haul and negotiating stairs from a walk-in fridge at the Pier Hotel in Gorleston.

Ian Scott, who owns the hotel with his father Rodney, said the chef arrived on Saturday morning to find the outdoor fridge had been emptied overnight.

He said: “The chef went in there in the morning and there was no meat. They even took the frozen stuff.

“He went to get some ribs out and they were gone as well.”

He said the theft took place at around 4am the culprits taking about three minutes to carry off the goods in rucksacks and bags they had brought with them.

To access the fridge Mr Scott said they would have had to come in through port authority land and climb over the yacht club roof.

He estimated the value of the meat to be between £800 and £1,000.

Norfolk police confirmed they were investigating and that inquiries were ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
