FORMER Norwich City manager Ken Brown will be back in the hot seat as the Canaries Legends take on Ipswich Legends at Great Yarmouth Football Club this month.

The game on Sunday, April 18 is also marking the 25th anniversary of Norwich's Milk Cup victory against Sunderland.

That 1-0 win, in what was dubbed the friendly final back in 1985, was the highlight of Brown's seven years as boss at Carrow Road.

The road to Wembley was all the more memorable for city fans after the Canaries defeated Ipswich over the two leg semi-final.

Brown said he was looking forward to taking charge of the city side for the match at Wellesley Road organised one his former players - local hero Dale Gordon.

He said: “Dale asked me if I would like to take charge of the Norwich side and I said I would be delighted. We had a few good players in my time - Dale was pretty special he came through our academy and was a local boy made good.

“The biggest game I remember against Ipswich was the Milk Cup semi-final, we lost 1-0 there and won the second leg 2-0 with a late goal from Steve Bruce.

“The final is still fresh in my mind, you always remember Wembley games. I was there a number of times as a player and manager and was lucky enough to be on the winning side on each occasion.

“We played a friendly match against Ipswich at the Wellesley just after signing John Deehan. He had a great game scoring a hat-trick and Terry Butcher said to me “where did you get him from.”

Brown is a regular spectator at Carrow Road and West Ham where he spent his playing days with another former city manager John Bond.

His son Kenny who started his playing career at Norwich before joining the Hammers is expected to take part in the match.

Other players lined up for the match include Dion Dublin, Darren Eadie and Bryan Gunn for Norwich, and former Town stars, Simon Milton, Matt Holland and Jason Dozzell. Ipswich Legends will be managed by Town hero Kevin Beattie.
