Churches in Gorleston are putting the election centre stage next week with an “Any Questions?” debate at which Labour's Tony Wright and the Conservatives' Brandon Lewis have already agreed to appear.
Churches in Gorleston are putting the election centre stage next week with an “Any Questions?” debate at which Labour's Tony Wright and the Conservatives' Brandon Lewis have already agreed to appear.
The question time event is at Gorleston Pavilion Theatre on Tuesday, the day that candidates officially declare they are standing for the election. Invitations have been issued to all of them to take part.
The Rev Tony Ward, the Vicar of Gorleston, who is helping to organise the Bradwell and Gorleston Churches Together event says it will provide a unique opportunity, especially for church goers, to put questions directly to the candidates.
“There are a number of issues, like overseas aid, family values and the public expression of faith which are of specific interest, along with many others” he said. “I hope many people will take the chance to come along, get more involved, and understand at first hand what the candidates and parties have to say.”
People will be asked to submit questions as they arrive and also be encouraged to put them from the floor. The evening, which starts at 7.30pm, will be chaired by former BBC Radio Norfolk presenter Tony Mallion.
“I'm looking forward to a live and lively debate and getting some real answers from those who seek our votes” he said.

Admission to the theatre is free and the event is open to anyone to attend. Refreshments will be on sale throughout.
