A CAR hit an 18-year-old girl as she crossed the street in Great Yarmouth this morning.

The girl was crossing North Quay Road at around 11am when she was hit by a vehicle which failed to stop.

She has been taken to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston for a precautionary check-up but is not believed to have sustained serious injuries.

Police were called to the scene at 11.05am and an ambulance attended.

A spokesman for Norfolk Constabulary said: “There was a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

“The girl’s injuries are not life-threatening and she was taken to the James Paget University Hospital for a precautionary check-up.

“The driver failed to stop but the victim admits that she didn’t look properly.”

Police are urging the driver to report to Gorleston police station to report the accident.
