YOUNG people from Bradwell and the Magdalen estate in Gorleston were given a lesson in the dangers of careless driving during a visit to Great Yarmouth Fire Station.

The visit, organised by the areas Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) and the Norfolk Youth Offending Team (YOT), aimed to show the young people the dangers of careless use of motor vehicles through tiredness, drink, drugs and showing off while behind the wheel.

During the visit a hard hitting DVD was shown which highlighted the consequences of careless and anti-social driving - including prison, serious injuries and even death.

The film presented real life interviews and accounts from family members of bereaved young people who lost their lives as a result of collisions.

Firefighters, with the help of four volunteers, demonstrated a rescue of people trapped in a vehicle following a road traffic collision - using the same procedures and equipment they would when dealing with a real incident.
