COMMUNITY groups in north Norfolk struggling to cope during the economic downturn are getting the chance of a much-needed financial boost.Victory Housing Trust, which manages more than 4,700 properties in the district, has pledged to increase its contribution to a local community fund by 40pc this year.
COMMUNITY groups in north Norfolk struggling to cope during the economic downturn are getting the chance of a much-needed financial boost.
Victory Housing Trust, which manages more than 4,700 properties in the district, has pledged to increase its contribution to a local community fund by 40pc this year.
The cash, which has gone up from �25,000 to �35,000, will benefit volunteer and community groups at a time when they are coming under increasing pressure.
Victory's chief executive John Archibald said: “At times of economic uncertainty, the demand for the kind of services provided by community groups grows - just as their income is put under increasing pressure because people have less money to donate to support their activities.”
The fund gives out grants of up to �5,000 to groups working to promote health and wellbeing, tackling disadvantage and improving links within communities.
