CCTV footage of Hopton robbery released

DETECTIVES in Great Yarmouth are renewing appeals for information following a robbery in Hopton for which a £1000 reward for information leading to an arrest is being offered.
Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident which happened on Thursday, February 17.
Between 6am and 6.40am a man broke into a property on Warren Road after forcing a rear window and disturbed the elderly male resident.
The householder confronted the man who then threatened him with violence. An untidy search was carried out and a significant amount of cash was stolen from a safe in the property. Cigars were also taken from the lounge however these were later discovered close to the rear door of the property.
The suspect is described as 5ft 10 tall and was wearing dark clothing. Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or noticed suspicious people or vehicles in the area around the times stated.
Det Sgt Chris Burgess said: “This was a very serious incident and we would appeal to anyone with information to come forward.
“We would also like to hear from people who might have noticed someone acting suspiciously in the village around the time of the incident.”
