A Celebration of Age Event was held at the Old Hall Caister recently.

Mayor of Great Yarmouth, Cllr Shirley Weymouth, attended the event hosted by the Older Peoples Network and Age Concern Great Yarmouth.

The event now in its fourth year celebrates the work of inspirational people ages 50 and over who live in the borough, people who volunteer tirelessly for their communities and neighbourhoods, people who deserve to be recognised for their contributions.

Volunteers are the backbone of many organisations and look for little or no recognition. So for the past four years the Older Peoples Network and Age Concern Great Yarmouth have sought nominations so volunteers can receive an award in recognition of their hard work, support and commitment to services and organisations.

This year’s awards went to: Reg Taylor, Sue Casey, Sam and Connie Firkins, Shirley Pearce, Maureen McGovern, Mary Wilson, Vic Hardwick, Edna Fletcher MBE, Lynn Hewitt and John Holmes. Picture: SUBMITTED
