Schools across Great Yarmouth took a step back in time to celebrate the 1950s.
As part of the look back to the era, four schools hosted rock ‘n’ roll tea parties where the children performed a dance and took a look at photos and items from the decade.
It came a week after the pupils from Great Yarmouth Primary Academy, St George’s Primary, North Denes Primary and Ormiston Herman Academy took part in a flashmob dance at Great Yarmouth’s Market Place.
The schools had a special interest in looking back to what the borough looked like at the time. The events were supported by Great Yarmouth Library and Time and Tide Museum as it links to their summer exhibition Halfway to Paradise, which looks at the birth of British rock through the photos of Harry Hammond.
And they are also part of the region-wide Our Norfolk Our Adventures Iniatitive which looks at stories on your doorstep.
Vicky Beales from North Denes Primary School, said: “There was lots going on we had vintage vans and scooters there, as well as a dance, a barbecue, raffle, an Elvis impersonator and much more.
“I think children from all the schools have really enjoyed the project.”
The North Denes Primary School event also raised money towards the Little Bird’s Big Battle fund for former pupil Abbie Boast, who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.
The day raised £1,771 towards the fund.
