The Trinity Children's Centre is celebrating its first birthday with a range of events and an open day next Friday .

Community worker Julie Beales said it had been a very successful first year for the £750,000 centre which supports families with young children in the northern parishes.

The centre opened last year with a bouncy castle and arts and craft session and to mark the milestone more family fun activities are planned with sticky fingers, art and craft, mini movers and Mr Jugglefun.

Masterchef finalist Chris Gates will judge a smoothie competition and Thomas Rollett will be unveiling his dove sculpture - a birthday gift for the centre.

Events include 9am to 2pm, sticky fingers and funniest sculpture competition; 9am to 1pm, information and advice stalls in the school hall; 10am to 11am, mini movers; 11.30am to noon, pre-school music; 12.15pm to 1pm, family picnic - bring your own picnic and blanket; 1pm to 2pm Mr Jugglefun; 2pm to 3pm sculpture unveiling, announcement of winners; 3pm to 6pm, open evening to look round the centre and chat to staff.
