NORFOLK Chamber of Commerce has recently established a car-sharing scheme for its members and their staff.

The scheme, designed to reduce travel costs as well as congestion and pollution, is accessed over the internet and enables individuals to share lifts to any destination with other from a wide database.

Caroline Williams, CEO Norfolk Chamber said: “We are really pleased to be working with liftshare.com on this scheme. A typical driver who car-shares on their daily commute, saves about £1,000 a year and a tonne in CO2 emissions. This new service is an important part of our 'Chamber Cost Cutting Campaign.'”

Chamber members can access the scheme from home or from work at www.norfolkchamberliftshare.co.uk and register their journey details for free. The system will then tell them if anyone else is going in the same direction, leaving it up to them to make contact through a secure e-mail connection, and arrange to share both the journey and the costs of travel.
