OPPORTUNITIES to make journeys to and from Great Yarmouth College greener for students and staff and cut their carbon footprints are being investigated in a big new survey.
More than 3,300 students and more than 400 staff who use the Southtown campus every week are being asked what help they need to be more environmentally-friendly in their travel in a college-wide travel study.
The college is trying to find out what help it can give as it redevelops its buildings in a �40 million transformation.
Ideas like car sharing, cycling and public transport are explored in the online survey seeking to discover how the college can help organise schemes, offer facilities for cyclists and change the way people travel to work and study.
To encourage people to complete the survey, everyone taking part has a chance of winning a cycle - one for staff and one for students - and cycling safety accessories in a prize draw.
Every participant will be able to calculate his or her carbon footprint and cost depending on their current mode of transport.
College finance director Roy Hughes said the current redevelopment of the campus was an ideal time to address ways to help staff and students investigate more environmentally friendly ways of travelling to college.
