A NEW chief executive has been appointed to local mental health charity Yarmouth and Waveney Mind.

Malcolm Ashton has joined Mind after moving to Norfolk from Hampshire where he was director of operations for one of the country's largest specialist mental health and learning disability NHS Trusts.

Malcolm has a wealth of experience in managing health and social care services as he is a qualified social worker, practice teacher and has an MBA from the Open University.

He said: “My intention is to grow the organisation by improving the quality and range of services we provide. One in four people will experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year. I want to ensure people with mental health problems in our local communities are properly supported and that our services exceed the expectations of the organisations who commission Mind in Great Yarmouth and Waveney.”
