A PAINTING commemorating Great Yarmouth's 800th Charter anniversary will be unveiled at St Nicholas Church next month.
The occasion on Wednesday, June 23 will represent the culmination of two years work on the 20ft canvas by local artist Ernie Childs. It depicts modern day townspeople in a medieval scene with King John who granted the royal charter in 1208.
Close on 100 characters are featured in the artwork transporting today's residents back to the 13th century - a time when the town was amongst the wealthiest in England.
