ROADS were sealed off in Gorleston this morning after a canister containing chemicals fell off the back of a van or lorry at a roundabout.
Firefighters and police blocked off the area around Victoria Road after the canister was found to be leaking sodium hydroxide at about 10am. About half a litre of the chemical leaked onto the road.
Because it was feared the chemical might have been hazard to the public, a special chemical unit was called in from Sprowston to clean up the spillage and handle the canister.
Two fire crews from Great Yarmouth also attended the incident.
