SICK seals will be feeling shipshape thanks to kind-hearted children donating old and used towels.

Pupils and youngsters at Caister Infant School, Nursery and Children’s Centre have nearly collected 100 towels for the East Winch Wildlife Centre in the space of just two days.

The centre near King’s Lynn needs the towels as it gets through 100 a day as staff care for nearly 50 sick seals.

Following an appeal in the media two staff at the Caister Infants, Louise Mundford and Ruth Harmer, decided to get their pupils helping the mammals which were found in the Wash. A donation centre was set up in the school’s entrance on Monday with a papier mache seal encouraging children to donate.

The school was hoping to hand over the towels to the wildlife centre today or early next week.
