An inquest into the death of a 27-year-old man who is believed to have been killed as he tried to abseil down Acle church is to be held on March 2.

The body of Stephen Monument, of Beighton Road, Acle, was found on a pathway at St Andrew's Church at North Burlingham on December 16. It is thought that Mr Monument broke into the 15th century church and then tried to abseil down its tower.

His inquest will be held at the Assembly House in Norwich on the morning of March 2.

The day after his death his family released a tribute through police which said: “Stephen was a caring loving son adored by his brother Robert and two sisters Cheryl and Tracey.

“His two nieces and two nephews loved him dearly as he loved them. We all miss him terribly and will never get over the loss.”
