MORE than 50 children from a Cliff Park Middle School visited Whitwell Hall in north Norfolk on a trip to go back to basics and enjoy outdoor life. Fifty-seven Year 6 children took part in the trip, organised by leader Michael Walsh, and which included a visit to Cromer, swimming in Splash Sheringham, canoeing, archery and orienteering. Apart from these trips the children had to eat food cooked from an open fire and learn essential skills of friendship and outdoor living.
Mr Walsh said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for a group of children to experience going back to basics of many years ago and learn to live life with no heating, electricity and other modern things. They are still talking about the ghost stories around the camp fire in the evenings.”
