YEAR six pupils at Cliff Park Junior School, Gorleston, took part in a news day run by Norfolk Education Industry and Commerce Group. More than 90 children formed groups of six and took on roles of news editors, sub-editors, journalists, photographers and advertising staff. Each group put together the first page of their own newspaper, and the best was judged and rewarded at the end of the day. Mr Walsh, year six co-ordinator said: “The children were very enthusiastic about the day's events. They found the pressure of working to strict deadlines quite a challenge and gained a valuable insight into the real world of work.”
The day was such a success, the school has already booked the group for another news day next year.
