JUNIOR schoolchildren in Gorleston have been taking their First Steps on a road safety course. The children from Cliff Park Junior School are learning how to be safe around the and look traffic dangers, with the help of Olly Day from the Casualty Reduction Section of Norfolk County Council.

Olly, along with the staff at Cliff Park, worked together to train young people on staying safe. The event involved children learning how and where to cross roads, encouraging children to buckle up when travelling in cars and to wear a cycle helmet every time they ride a bicycle, even when playing in a safe place away from traffic.

Michael Walsh, year six leader, said: “It is important to start learning all skills for life early as possible, and road safely is no exception. The children have really enjoyed the day and having Olly help out in school is a good way of demonstrating to the children the importance of road safety.”
