STUDENTS and staff at Cliff Park High School welcomed visitors from Shanghai this week as part of a programme linking UK and Chinese schools.
Headteacher Dezhang Ming, and English teacher Tan Xialing, from The Changle School in the Xuihui district of the city spent three days in Gorleston. It was part of the return visit from teachers and education leaders after Cliff Park head teacher Mark Bailie and director of sport Richard Stockings visited Shanghai in October last year.
The Tiger Woods Foundation sponsored Dreams and Teams programme aims to promote student leadership, creativity and teamwork by sharing the well established Sports Leadership initiative in English schools with students in China.
During the visit, time was spent discussing future plans, including an exciting interactive on-line art exhibition and a visit by Cliff Park students to Shanghai to organise a festival of sport in 2009.
Mr Ming was also interviewed on BBC Radio Norfolk about his first impressions of the English education system.
Mr Bailie is trying to raise additional funding to support Student Leaders from Great Yarmouth and Gorleston travelling to China next year. Potential sponsors should contact the school directly on 01493 661504.
