CLIPPESBY Hall, an independent, family-owned holiday park has been selected by the AA as Best Campsite of the Year for 2009.

The award covers England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland and represents a huge boost to tourism in Norfolk and the Broads.

The reviewers commented on the delightful setting of the Park within “the lovely grounds of Clippesby Hall country house” and that it “offers an all-round holiday experience for all ages in all weathers.”

The award is made following a review process that looks at all aspects of over 1,000 campsites across Britain.

Clippesby Hall gained a maximum 5 pennant rating from the AA in 2007 and was also awarded the Best Holiday Park in Norfolk 2006 in the EDP Tourism Awards, and Holiday Park of the Year 2007 at the Regional Enjoy England Awards for the Eastern Region.

Park owner John Lindsay was surprised but delighted with the award, saying: “We have been very lucky to win some local and regional awards over the past few years, but to gain national recognition is fantastic and a great tribute to our hard-working team of people that put in so much effort every year to try and ensure every visitor has an enjoyable holiday with us.”

It is hoped tourism in the UK in general will enjoy a boost this year as a result of the falling value of the pound and the wider impact of the credit crunch means that camping holidays are an ideal way for the family to have a break without breaking the bank.
