The Co-op has opened a food store in Hemsby following a £1.2m investment, that has also created 24 full and part-time jobs.

Children from Hemsby Primary School’s council had the honour to cut the ribbon to declare the Co-op in Kings Way open for the community.

The school received a £500 donation as part of the celebrations, which will be used to support its healthy food programme. Another donation of £500 was made by Co-op to the Hemsby Parish Church appeal.

Samantha Winter, who is the Co-op’s area manager, said: “We are delighted to have undertaken such a significant investment in Hemsby, and proud to be part of the community – we have had a great response, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to serve the community.

“Our ambition is to ensure the store is a local hub and an asset for the community.”

Students in Hemsby with a NUS extra card receive a 10pc discount at the store.
