A group of children and adults had to be rescued after becoming trapped on the reefs near Sea Palling.

Yarmouth Coastguard received a number of 999 calls just after 1.30pm today from members of the public who had spotted the group of five people in trouble.

Sea Palling's inshore lifeboat crew, the Sea Palling lifeguards and Happisburgh Coastguard were sent out to assist and brought the children and adults back to shore.

A spokeswoman for the coastguard said: “We think the children had been using boogie boards which are like small surfboards, and had gone too far out and got caught in the current, and then the adults had gone out to help and got stuck as well.”

One 13-year-old girl was treated for cuts to her feet, but there were no other injuries to anyone in the group.
