Rousing music by the band of Cobholm-based TS Warrior naval cadets officially opened the Cobholm Community Fun Day on Sunday.
The cadets also helped run much of the event which attracted around 200 people and was hosted by Cobholm Island Credit Union.
Activities included team games from Cobholm Boys FC, face painting by the Family SHACK, Lizzie’s bouncy castles, hook a duck, Podge’s horse and cart rides, and stalls selling a range of home-made cakes all provided by local people.
Prizes were donated by a range of Cobholm businesses including the Co-op, Rusty’s Plaice, AJs, Pizza Hut, Tantastic beauty, Hush hair and beauty, Perry’s butcher, and also by bigger stores including Palmers, Pizza Hut and McDonalds, Tesco, and Asda.
Mayor John Burroughs said: “I’m very impressed by what the local residents, groups and businesses from Cobholm have contributed to the fun day. It’s pleasing to know how well the community works together and that so many young people are benefitting from it.”
The £159.55 raised was donated to the TS Warrior cadets.
