BUDDING young artists at Cobholm Primary School brought a splash of colour to their classrooms by taking part in Marie Curie Cancer Care's national Paint Your Mini Pot Day, part of the charity's Mini Pots of Care fundraising initiative on Friday.

Teacher Laren Lea said: “The children really enjoyed looking after their daffodil bulbs throughout winter and have had a great time painting their pots. By taking part in this simple and fun activity the whole school has been learning about the fantastic work of the Marie Curie Nurses and has already raised a total of £103.10 for the charity. The school raised the money with a Yellow Day; the children baked cakes and decorated them with yellow icing and sold them.

“Donations were also given for wearing something yellow or other non-school uniform clothes.”

More than 281,000 children across the UK were given a mini pot and daffodil bulb to plant and nurture last autumn to reflect the care that Marie Curie Nurses provide to terminally ill patients.
