COLD callers are being warned by police to steer clear of Caister as moves continue to launch a No Cold Calling Zone.

Officers are working in partnership with Norfolk County Council's Trading Standards team to set up a scheme in Westerley Way and Westerley Close.

Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Paul Johnson completed a survey about establishing a No Cold Calling Zone in March following two rogue trader incidents.

In one incident on March 4 officers had been called to an address following reports that two males were knocking on doors asking for work.

It was later found out that one householder had parted with £250 for roof work which was not deemed necessary and investigations continue into the incident.

PCSO Johnson said: “We are close to launching the scheme and there is one final process to go through. Trading Standards will deliver letters which need to be completed by residents and returned to them. The sooner this process is completed the sooner the scheme can be launched.”

Householders are reminded to double check the identity of anyone cold calling at their home and always ask for quotes and references before any work on your garden or home is carried out.
