Age Connected at the Acorn Centre in Regent Street, Great Yarmouth, welcome their new Older People’s Development Worker Diane Steels.
Diane is currently busy supporting the charity’s lunch groups around the borough. These groups meet weekly and offer a two-course meal followed by a social afternoon full of fun and activities. Currently groups can be found at The Victoria Inn at Martham, The Ship at Caister, The Avenues in Beatty Road, The Kings Head at Belton, The Turnstone at Hopton and not forgetting our Fish and Chips Friday at the Acorn Centre. All groups are supported by staff and volunteers.
Diane is also setting up an outreach programme about the borough to meet as many people, and to visit as many groups as she can. If your group would like Diane to come and visit your group please contact her at the Age Connected office.
Also new to the Acorn Centre is Lorna, our foot practitioner, who is available by appointment only on Mondays and Fridays to help keep your feet happy feet. Coming up in May at the Acorn Centre we have two special events, the first being our “dress to impress” Royal Garden Party on Friday, May 18 to celebrate the Royal Wedding. Tickets are £6 and include a strawberry afternoon tea with entertainment from the Squeegies.
Then on Wednesday, May 30 we have our annual fun activity day. This is the day you can come along and try some new games such as New Age Kurling and Shuffle Board as well as some favourites such as Table Tennis and Carpet Bowls or maybe a blast from the past with tiddlywinks and jacks! Other activities will include seated Basketball. Connect Four, Giant Jenga and more.
The day is free – so why not drop in and get active? I look forward to seeing you at one of our events.
