The Village Voice is a magazine that serves five villages in the Great Yarmouth area - Belton, Browston, Burgh Castle, Fritton and St Olaves.
Started as a four-page mono publication in 2000, it is today a 32-page glossy with a circulation of over 3,000, an on-line reach of many times that number and run entirely by volunteers.
A literary competition held to celebrate its 200th issue attracted a large number of entries. At the monthly Coffee Morning held at John Green Institute, Belton on October 16, the Immigration Minister Brandon Lewis MP handed out the prizes.
The under-18 category was won by Melissa Moore of Lynn Grove High School and the over-18 by Victoria Dyson. Special commendations were awarded to Cerys Legget of Ormiston Academy, Shirley Elvin, Ingrid Channel, Tracey Phillips, Jodie French, Joany Randall, Linda Clark, Jim Channel and Sudevi Hoare.
Members of the Village Voice board, editor Dr Regi Alexander, Brian Swan, Bill Richmond, Martin Roche and Ernie Tuxford were present along with about 60 members of the public.
