TWO lucky people have won the chance to run out with a team of football legends as well as stars from TV’s soapland after winning a competition organised by the Mercury.

Anthony Harris, of Churchill Road, Great Yarmouth and Carl Norman, of St Hilda Road, Caister have been picked to play in the match between Dale Gordon’s Legends team and a team of stars from soaps including Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Shameless and Hollyoaks at the Wellesley football ground in Yarmouth on September 18.

The date is a change to the advertised date of September 11 because of a clash with Norwich City’s Sky TV game.

The Legend’s squad has contained such illustrious names as ex-Canaries Bryan Gunn, Jeremy Goss, Paul McVeigh, Darren Huckerby and Dion Dublin amd former Ipswich Town star John Wark.

To win, the competition entrants had to answer the question, “What was the name of the Eastenders character who left her beloved Queen Vic forever after a right old Carry On with her son?” The answer was Peggy Mitchell.
