An application to build seven new homes in Filby has been recommended for approval despite concerns from residents and councillors.

The development would see the detached homes built off an existing access track at the southern side of the A1064 Main Road, with all the homes sold as market properties.

The application has been modified to make changes to the access and visibility splay, as requested by Highways.

However concerns have still been raised by the parish council over an increase in traffic having a detrimental effect to the safety and flow of a busy main road, the sewerage system already being overloaded and the site being outside the village’s development area.

Among the nine objections received from neighbours, concerns were also raised about the site access being too narrow, further development eroding ‘Filby in Bloom’ and the community spirit and the loss of green space for wildlife.

However the report says the plans are in accordance with the Great Yarmouth Local Plan and approval should be granted subject to conditions.

The plans will be discussed by Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s development control committee on Thursday, July 19 from 6.30pm at Town Hall.
