POLICE investigating how confidential papers became strewn across a Gorleston street have confirmed the papers were stolen from a local NHS clinic.

A number of items of post, which included one pack of police referrals to children's services, were stolen from a letter box at the Newberry Clinic in Lowestoft Road following a mail delivery on Saturday morning.

It is thought the papers were discarded in the grounds of the clinic. Police were alerted by members of the public on Sunday morning, who had found some of the papers which had blown into the road.

A police spokesman said: “Some police referrals, which had been properly posted according to usual processes, arrived at the clinic on Saturday morning and were stolen during a burglary.
