Cookery demonstration at venue for the over-50s

Learn how to cook up a storm at a special culinary demonstration to be held at the Acorn Centre in Great Yarmouth.
Supermarket chain Tesco will be in the over-50s venue run by Age Concern Great Yarmouth with their demonstration kitchen on Thursday, March 9 from 10am to cook us up some tasty delights.
Jackie Tierney, the services manager at Age Concern Great Yarmouth said: “All the meals are healthy and easy to prepare. Everyone welcome to come along and learn some new cooking skills.”
Also on the Thursday, starting at 10.30am at the Regent Street venue there will be an hour long Dementia Awareness Session, which Jackie said would be a chance for you to find out more about Dementia and how you can become a Dementia Friend.
There is also a ‘Mad March Tea Dance’ with live music and sing along with Hank, tea and cakes.
Tickets are on sale now at the Acorn Centre for just £6.
Something new for Thursday afternoons is our Knit and Natter sessions, whatever your ability – expert or just starting why not come along and enjoy a cuppa with some like knitters.

Starting on Monday, April 3 10am until noon will be a new art class sessions with all abilities welcome.
The Acorn Centre supports people aged 50 years and over offering support, information and a host of activities, with sessions 10am – noon and 1pm – 3pm except Friday which is our Fish and Chips and social afternoon which starts at 11.30 – 2.30pm.
There will be all the regular sessions happening every day, including the new country line dancing on a Monday afternoon 1-3pm.
The building is described as somewhere that anyone over 50 can come and feel comfortable and it was a “one stop shop” for the older person in the borough.

In 1948 the Great Yarmouth Branch was formed. The name Age Concern was first used in 1971 and Great Yarmouth took the name Age Concern Great Yarmouth in 1987.
